Beautiful views Photo submitted by dahoffman on 05/30/2013
Very nice course
The course is very nice, but a bit pricey, but given the short golf season, that has to be the case. Played in the mid afternoon and the last 3-4 holes in the shade of the mountain actually was getting cool (6:30-7:30) despite being warm in the sun. The course was in good condition - I"ve seen it better as well as worse.
I always enjoy playing EVGC.
Course has some great holes
Had to put clubs in carts ourselves. Outside staff at start of round need training. Outside staff at end of round were great.
Coors Light draft beer was flat.
Good, but a little tricked up
Good public course, reasonably priced. 4 stars above, but really I would say 3 1/2. Played twice in a 2 week period. I live (and play) in a hilly area, so the elevation changes weren't an issue. Course was in good condition, and has some very pretty views. Problem is that a few of the holes are needlessly tricked up (like number 9), and some of the greens have silly slopes (like number 17). That said, had a good time. My wife, who is a beginner, enjoyed it.
A challenging gem.
If you like challenges and measured accurate shot production requirements this is the course for you. However, as an example the 16th hole green is diabolical ...my second shot into this green was pin high. Yet the ball hesitated then very slowly started rolling backwards picking up speed into a bowl then continuing over a wall and into a stream. Don't ask what I said...
Beautiful Course
Outstanding course. Great creativity, tough shots, a lot of fun. Just played Eagle Vail and loved it. The 10th Hole is a BLAST! 18 is unreal. Seems like the only mountain course in the area that actually goes up into the mountains. Great, great course, is only 6500 yards but have plenty of chances to hit the driver.
Great
They have really put alot of work in to improving the golf experience. New carts, great fairways and greens. The GPS in the carts are super informative. Best I've ever seen! Staff is a 10!
Eagle Vail treat
Enjoyable mountain golf. Nice elevation changes. Beautiful scenery. Great value (early season) with GolfNow. Greens a bit shaggy (compared to perfect midwest bent grass). ... But very nice municipal track. We return year after year
Great day in the mountains.
Eagle Vail is in excellent shape with lush fairways and quick challenging greens.
There are a couple of tricky holes but for the most part it's a great layout.
They are doing some work on the cart paths right now but it didn't effect play at all.
Excellent course
The course was in great shape and pace of play was perfect! The staff was great and everyone we dealt with was extremely professional. The views are amazing. Without a doubt, I would play here again.
INCREDIBLE VIEWS!
Amazing golf course! Fantastic staff! The elevation changes on this golf course are shocking. I'm from Texas and recently started playing a lot of private course near the Houston area. This golf course is a better value than some of the best private course I've played. The Marshall was like an ambassador of the golf course he not only checked pace of play, but he periodically checked how our experience was going. The cart attendants and starters were incredibly pleasant and friendly. The ladies in the pro shop were also top notch. Not only were they very friendly after, I made my selection they suggested some local restaurants to try while I was checking out. The restaurant was pretty tasty as well. Do yourself a favor book a tee time here if you're coming to Avon..
10 Holes
Liked the course, but only 10 holes (1 - 8, 11, & 12) were open. Would have been nice to know this when making the reservation. Want to go back just to play the holes that were closed. Most holes played were straight with wide fairways, but the sand bunkers and streams running through the course made it interesting. Really liked the short par 3 over the stream from a kind of elevated tee.
A REAL BEAUTY
The course was in great shape. The layout is very challenging but fair. It was difficult to concentrate on golf because the course is so beautiful. I will definitely play Eagle Vail again.Outstanding!
Great course
Played the course on a Tuesday afterrnoon. Got discounted tee time online. Starter allowed us an early start. My wife rode along for the views. This time of the year it was not real crowded, so once I played through a foursome, we were unrestricted. The course is fun to play but quite challenging. The par 3s are a lot of fun. Several significant drops in elevation from tee to gree/fairway, especially #10 (listed as 154 feet from the whites). Staff was very friendly and course was in great shape. Quite a few breaks on the greens. Definitely fun to play; worth the drive from Breckenridge.
Great Coarse in the Mountains
This is a true mountain coarse, that will keep you thinking...
10th hole is fun
Course is unforgiving for amateurs but very interesting to play.
Breathtaking views from some of the tee boxes.
My wife and I took advantage of an afternoon rate and barely got the round in before dark. We got an exceptional value by doing this and would not have cared if we only played 16 holes. The back 9 has some really beautiful holes so we played all 18 even though it got pretty cool and dark. The greens are a little trickey but in great condition. This is a must play course in our opinion.
Lucky
Got to play as a single on a Friday at about 4 hours. Course in great shape. Great experience
Varied terrain and nice challenges
Course plays short but fairways can be tricky and toughs unforgiving.
Requires precision drives on at least 9 of 18 holes. Greens are large and require good reads which don't follow the rules of break from mountains or to water. You will want to play this course several times as it will use all your bag.
Must play this course.
The course was in great shape because of all the rain and the effort of the maintenance staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a difficult course because it is narrow and demands accuracy, This course should be on everyone's bucket list. It was a fantastic experience.
Some of the best mountain golf holes in the Summit
The rates are cheaper after noon but you might get wet. This is the first time I have played here since the course was renovated and they did a good job. Six or seven holes with beautiful elevation changes and the last three holes are the best on the course. My only complaint is that several holes have houses a little close to the fairway.
