Thorncreek Golf Club
About
The golf course at Thorncreek Golf Club is a public, 18-hole course in the city of Thornton. The course features 7,268 yards of golf from its longest tees, playing to a par of 72. Designed by Finger Dye Spann, Inc., the course has a links-style layout. A unique aspect of the course is that a street separates the front nine holes from the back nine. Lakes that are situated on the course create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. Thorncreek Golf Club's signature hole is the par-4, 18th hole, which has a fairway with a water hazard along one side.

Aeration not disclosed, but nice facility
Thorncreek GC is a nice layout. My issues with the round are not really directed at any staff or the course itself. The course is being aerated. This was not disclosed on GolfNow.com. Hence, many of the holes had millions of plugs on it...and all the greens were sanded/plugged. For the discount, this was acceptable. The main drawback was who I was paired with. Nice people but simply not knowledgeable about the game...at all. I had to wait on mulligan after mulligan and lost ball after lost ball (they lost over 30 balls). It wore me down.

Some long holes. Hard to reach in 2 or 3. Played well. Greens aerated week ago but should be really good in another week.
Areating Info would have been nice
Thorncreek is actually a great deal of a course + challenging for sure but none more so when fairways are actually being areating & plugs picked up at same time, therefore my comment w/b for golf now to ever so slightly 'tweak' their golf information by letting the public golfer know what course preparations are taking place - especially in month of April - so that one can make an accurate choice of where to go, aka spend hard earned money to play a nice round of golf w/out having to deal with plugs, much sand on greens etc. We know it's a common needed occurance, but....just an FYIw/b nice! thanks.
Awesome value.
I can always find awesome deals. A fun challenging course. I like the back 9 better than the front. Too many houses on the front. Course has never been in great shape when I've played.
Great Experience
Great Layout and a challenging distance. I had two other players that had never played the course and they loved it. New planned improvements should really make this course even better!
And waiting, and waiting, and waiting
Very slow pace of play for a Friday afternoon. 3hrs into the front nine, and I decided to quit at the turn. No rangers managing the bottle necks or the pace. I could understand if there where walkers ahead of us, but when three sets of groups where on one par four, kind of ridiculous. Conditions were so-so, greens very sandy. Next time will pay the extra money to go someplace else, value < pace of play. Would hate to see what a weekend was like there.
Thorncreek April 9
Played Thorncreek on April 9, 2014, 2 days after the greens were aerated. That would have been nice to know on golfnow when I was booking the round. I like this course. Very good challenge, especially the greens on the back 9.
Thorncreek
Had a great time and the price was great course needs some work but the price was more the fair
A Challenge
The course looks average but don't get fooled. Managing your shots and using your head are key to a decent score. Look at the scorecard diagrams before getting on the tee box. Just don't pull out the driver. If you don't think ahead, you will wish you did. The greens were above average condition and challenging in a fair way.
Great thinking course.
Great course
Just moved to Denver and have played several courses and this one is great. I would play with someone who has been here before.. there are some lay-up holes. Course was in great shape!
Can't wait until this summer!
Not Bad
Not a bad course. Pace of play was pretty slow. We had a ranger talk to us about a backup he saw and kept talking to us for 5 minutes about how he didn't know where it came from while we were trying to get to the next tee box. Think we know where the backup came from.
First 18
The course was in good shape. Played on a windy cool day which made the course even more challenging. Could not use 90-degree use of cart on the fairways which for the first round of the year meant a LOT of walking. This contributed to the pace. Course was fair. The greens are undulating so shot location is key. Probably not a good choice for first outing simply based on skill level, but will definitely be back before the end of the year to chart my progress.
Excellent value
The course itself is well designed and the overall value is hard to beat.
Love to Play this course
I always enjoy Throncreek, It has some longer holes, challenging fairways, always tough greens to read. At least for me. But fun
I played in December and the course was in very good shape given it's winter.
A real good bang for the buck
November golf in Colorado
In spite of it being the end of November, the course was in fine shape and the greens were receptive enough to hold your approaches (though it was apparent that many before us didn't repair their ball marks causing the greens to play like mine fields). Pace of play was a little slow but there were many golfers taking advantage of the warm weather conditions. We did get a full round of 18 in so I'm not complaining.
Nice challenge. First time playing and would probably return
Group in front of us played extremely slow. Could have finished at least 30 minutes earlier. Needed a marshal to speed up play.
Greens are very Challenging
This is a great course. The greens are very challenging. The layout is unlike any course I've played in the Denver area. The front is surrounded by houses and is more of a stadium course, where the back 9 is more of a links course. Holes 7 and 10 can be extremely difficult and will challenge even the best golfers. Love it!!
If I had one complaint it would be that there are no marshals on the course and on a couple of occasions play was very slow (5 to 6 hrs for 18 holes).
