Nine Hole at South Suburban Golf Course
About
The South Suburban Golf Course facility offers two municipal courses, one that is nine holes and another that is 18 holes. The Nine Hole Course is one of several courses in Colorado designed by famed golf architect Richard Phelps. The par-3 course offers 1,270 yards of golf. Although it is a short course, it does have some challenging features. Shot accuracy is required since water hazards come into play on many of the holes. Although they are public courses, the South Suburban facility offers the amenities of a private course. There is a restaurant, a pro shop, and even an on-site teaching pro.

Good family friendly course that is fun for everyone
Course was in great shape. Very family friendly and a nice layout. Tough greens! There is also a 9 hole par 3 that was having a kids camp on it and it was great seeing all these young kids enjoying the game. They were so cute all walking around with there little bags and clubs.
Tough Greens
The course was in pretty good condition. The starter was having some issues, due to trying to fit someone in. My only real complaint is the folks in the grill have no sense of urgency when trying to grab a sandwich at the turn. The group behind us didn't stop and easily got ahead before we could get our hotdogs. This despite a sign saying those making the turn had priority. Nice lady waiting on us, but needed to pick it up.
Fast greens but slow pace
I have to say that overall, playing here was a good time. I got paired up with two locals who knew the course really well and helped me feel more confident on the course. The course was well laid out, the fairways were nice and the traps were in good shape. The greens were very fast, which made for a couple of 3 puts, but otherwise I would say that it was a good course.
I was disappointed by the rental clubs, which I guess can be expected, but they could have at least cleaned them prior to renting them out. I have rented clubs before and never had this happen to me before
I was also really disappointed by the pace of play, I left on the 16th hole because I was on pace to finish close to 6 hours, which for a Tuesday is not very typical. An employee did come out and ask us how things were going and I explained that the threesome in front of us were taking forever to hit the balls, which was really frustrating. I counted at one point us waiting 10 minutes for them to putt. He assured me he would have somebody come out and ask them to hurry up, which did not happen.
I doubt this is normal, but it was unfortunate to have this experience.
Great Course!
What a challenging great course to play. Greens were fast, but in great shape. The rest of the course was in great shape for a city course. Would recommend this place to any golfer!
Tricky greens
Course was in very good shape. Putting green just top dressed but course greens were fast and smooth. These are some of the toughest greens in Denver. Lots of slope and fast make these very challenging. A beginner would struggle here. 4 1/2 hour round, probably slowed down because of the green difficulty. Will play again.
Great Muni
Pretty open especially on the front 9. The putting is very challenging with severely sloping greens. When wind gusted, it became almost impossible to stop the ball near the pin on some of the placements. Awesome Colorado views.
What a treat.
This is one of my favorite courses when I was just stating to play golf. First time I'd been back since I retired. It was still as tough, and tougher and had nothing to do with age... I hope. But, i took my golfing partner, and we had a ball. Teamed up with a golfer headed for a Vegas tournament and he appeared to be as challenged as we were. And for the fun of it we joined him in hitting from the Blue tees. I used to love the Blue tees. But my partners first time, We really had a blast the whole day.. Price fit our fixed income and when we finished I felt like we owed more than we paid. What a wonderful treat. Thanks so much
Excellent value!
This course is like playing in the mid-west. Greens are very undulated, lucky for me I was below the hole most of the day.
The food was great, good beverage deals and good course conditions for being march in Colorado. I was treated like a member! Good job South Surburban!
course fun to play. greens very fast. good hotdogs.
South suburban is a nice course, well maintained with fast greens. Very playable for all levels.
Well Maintained, Slow Pace
Nice course, greens are not forgiving but I didn't mind that. Incredibly slow pace of play, it looks like there are tons of retired people in the area that play there and they all walk. If you give this course a try be prepared to wait around to hit your shots.
Ok place to play as it is near but, the attitude of the staff is not good
This place is very close to me and while I have many good memories of playing the Par 3 with my son, I am only heading for the big course from now on only when I am really short on other options. Time again the staff here and at South Suburban courses in general have a bad attitude. In my only round of the year here, we had some guy that works there playing in the group behind us constantly yelling about something or another that was not to his liking when our play and pace was just fine. While I do like the course in general, the only thoughts I have now are of this guy and other attitude ridden people that work there so, I have many other good options that I will choose from in Golfnow
Fun
Fun layout, great conditions, incredibly difficult and fast greens with a couple unfair pin positions

The front nine was 3+ hours alone with no ranger. Need I say more?
A nice course that requires thoughtful play
To begin with, the course is in very good shape, as with most decently maintained courses in Colorado this year. It is amazing what regular late summer rain does for courses. The fairways were well drained but I did have a few plugged lies due to rain the day before my round. Greens were somewhat fast but not very smooth, making them tougher than they already were.
The course requires some thought to play well. There are several holes with serpentine fairways that punish you if you do not think through the next two shots on a hole. A par 5 that plays around 450 makes you think that being on in two is a real possibility. However, if you take driver off the tee box, you will be disappointed to find your ball most likely in a low gully area that has a decent stream at the bottom about 265 yards out. It is completely hidden from view. The greens are one of the courses most fierce defenses. There are no really flat putts over 30 feet on these greens. Being pin high on most greens is going to give you knee knocker putt coming back down hill with ridges and berms. Two holes had pin locations stuck on the side of very steep ridges on the green, meaning that even 5 footers can be missed badly.
Several fairways do not have flat lies so make sure you play tee shots accurately to the high side because they will roll downhill quite a bit. The pro shop is well stocked. There was no cart concession operation on a Saturday.
Course is in great shape, but watch those tricky greens
Had a great time playing, but the greens have a lot of play in them. Some of the pin placements were quite challenging. All-in-all though, a good time.
i like the course but very slow player, 2 & 1/2" hours for 5 holes
i like the course but very slow player,
it take me 2 & 1/2" hours for first 5 holes,
been waiting 15-20 each holes not good, i see two group in front with they kids,
Just a blast. Difficulty to this course are the greens. If you are in the wrong place on the greens you can expect to three putt more often than not.
Very entertaining and enjoyable rolling type course. Fairways are wide, but greens are extremely fast and if out of position expect a three putt or perhaps more, depending how sick the greenskeeper was that morning. Swear they must wake up some mornings and say "We'll show these hacks!" A nice lay-out and easy to join up with other players. Staff is extremely helpful.
Awesome Features and challenging greens
Every hole had something to offer - from dog legs (and I mean a serious bend that tempts you to cut a corner), to trees and bunkers and water, to seriously side sloping fairways, to elevated tee boxes. There was always something to challenge your skills or make you think twice before each shot. The most memorable aspect was definitely the greens. They we re in great condition. There was no such thing as a simple putt though. Tons of movement and slope to each green tested my putt reading skills. Will definitely play here again.
Very slow play
We were on the course for just over 4 hours and 15 minutes and made it through only 14 holes.
Difficult Greens, but good times
South Suburban is a good golf course for the money. The layout of the golf course is awesome and at some high points you have great views of the mountains. The greens on this golf course are difficult and with certain pin placements very challenging. The pace of play drags behind on weekends if you tee off after 10 a.m. Overall, a good course for the price, but you better keep yoru ball out o fthe high weeds.
