Nine Hole at South Suburban Golf Course
About
The South Suburban Golf Course facility offers two municipal courses, one that is nine holes and another that is 18 holes. The Nine Hole Course is one of several courses in Colorado designed by famed golf architect Richard Phelps. The par-3 course offers 1,270 yards of golf. Although it is a short course, it does have some challenging features. Shot accuracy is required since water hazards come into play on many of the holes. Although they are public courses, the South Suburban facility offers the amenities of a private course. There is a restaurant, a pro shop, and even an on-site teaching pro.

Good value
Normally overpriced, our deal was decent. Would have been nice to know they just aerated the greens though. Accurate putting was impossible on these normally slick, sloping greens.
The Greens
Even if you get there in 2 does not mean you will get a par or birdie. Try to stay below the hole to give yourself a chance.
Greens are very tough.
The course itself is not terribly difficult but the greens are very slanted and fairly fast. Makes for difficult putts for all but the most experienced.
South Suburban Pace of Play
Pace of play was 5 hours plus for 18 holes of golf. No rangers on Sunday afternoon for a public course only encourages slow play. Starter was very friendly. Golf shop staff are consistently unfriendly.
Crazy greens
The course itself is not terribly hard, but as all the other reviews have mentioned the greens are evil. I have not four putt a green in a long time, and I did it on the first hole.
On the front nine, I hit 8 of 9 greens and still shot a 43 because of 23 putts. It is not that they are all fast, they are a bit inconsistent. Some parts of the same green are super fast, and then parts are slow. Just not the same everywhere. Also there is a lot of subtle breaks in the green
Steep greens, pretty course
Nice undulating fairways with plenty of different looks. The greens are some of the steepest sloping greens I've ever seen and could easily leave you 3 or 4 putting. The ball rolled true with only a little bit of wobble. A few of the tee boxes seemed really intimidating for me being a lefty with thick trees making for a shot that needed shaping... Great deal for the price I paid. Only downside is that I ran into the snack cart only once in the whole 18.
Underrated GEM
Very deceptive. Fairways, greens and traps all in very good shape. Due to rolling terrain played much longer than card. Greens had lots of slope. Played in 4:15.
southsuburban fast
the course was in excellent condition. but as always the greens were southsuburban fast so watch your speed.
Nice course
Nice layout. This course is all about short game, as the greens are about as tough as you'll find!
Challenging Rough
The rough on this course is challenging. Pretty deep rough, but may be because of all the rain. Greens were okay, maybe a bit slow. Greens have lots of undulation. Good neighborhood course, gets lots of play. Lots of Jr. golfers.
Great Course
Played an early afternoon round...Great weather and the course was in great shape. I really like this course. The fairways are wide open and the greens are what makes it challenging. Not a better value golfing in Denver Metro area especially if you are taking an afternoon off and using a hot deal on Golfnow.
Great day on challenging course
Overall this was a great experience as I was paired with some good golfers. Staff charged me extra $9 for my gal to ride with me - first course to do so this year to me. Course was in very good condition although greens were extremely fast above the hole. Nice renovations since I was there last.
Course was in great shape
I have played here before a couple years ago but I don't remember the course being in such good condition. Played it on a Saturday afternoon with a buddy and we got paired up with 2 walkers. The round took just over 5 hours even with the other two guys dropping-off after 9 holes. Was really impressed with how good of shape the course was in. Greens were fast but true. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to play a quality course for cheap.
unfair greens
the greens are ridiculous pin placement on hills takes the fun out of the game
South Suburan is a great course and worth it!
I always enjoy South Suburban golf course. Great value and course is challenging. Especially the greens!
Keep Ball Below the Hole!
Most greens are severely slanted back to front. Best to be short than long on approach shots. Down hill putts can be a nightmare.
calling all great putters
I've played here a few times and enjoyed the course. Staff was great, great layout but if you're not up for extreme putting conditions play elsewhere. Fast undulating greens that can require 10 ft break and not uncommon to go 5 ft past hole. I 3 putt about 3-5 times a round here and I'm a 10 handicap player. I will go back!
Great place to pkay
Condition of the course gets better and better. Challenging but also receptive of good play. The course is extremely well managed.
Diabolical greens
It had been a long time since last playing this course so I couldn't remember the holes or strategies for playing them. Thanks to our great playing partners for helpful info about the holes and greens. One would need multiple rounds there to best manage the course and especially the severely sloping and undulating greens. A very enjoyable challenge and variety of holes (layout).
