Green Valley Ranch Golf Club
About
Along with a nine-hole, par-3 course, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club also offers an 18-hole championship length course. Designed by Perry Dye, the course is 7,241 yards at its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. The course is a short distance south of the Denver International Airport and downtown Denver is easily accessible. The course is challenging and also scenic; it is not a rare occurrence to see wildlife such as deer on the course. Dye successfully incorporated the natural landscape of the area. The natural creeks and wetlands as well as the beautiful cottonwood trees were kept in tact. The course has received several honors from widely read golf magazines such as Golf Digest and Golf Week.

Enjoying the course... Photo submitted by Williamsed on 11/10/2012
Great course
This is a fun, challenging course to play in the Denver area. Fairways and greens were in good shape, greens were fast and true, and the entire course is one picture postcard after another. The only comment I might put forth for awareness would be a slow pace of play. Also, be aware that the course cuts through federal wetlands. If your ball goes out of bounds, you cannot go looking for it due damage you might cause to the local flora.
Home of the Colorado Open
GVR is the home of the Colorado Open...so you know it's a great course, with great conditions and facilities. Because it's a relatively flat course, it's also good for walkers. And...if you look online for weekdays, you can find some great deals.
So...great course, great conditions, great price...
My only negative: the people who play GVR. Maybe it's just bad luck...maybe it's random...but every time I play GVR, I am paired with golf jerks. You know the type...those amateurs who think they are playing in the US Open....who aren't there to have fun. Who blame a chirping bird when they miss a 2 foot putt...
Because Green Valley is such a great course, it attracts good golfers. But, as a 7 handicap, I can attest, some of these people take themselves, their game, and life WAY too serious.
For this reason, if you are a beginner, you might want to try a course that is a little easier, and where the other players are a bit more friendly and welcoming.
If you are a single digit advanced player...make sure your breathing is low and your farts are silent, because you might be paired with a Tiger-wannabe.
Slow, no rangers to assist, players in t shirts and flip flops and even bare feet.
Hopefully an anomaly. Great layout and initial greeting fantastic. On course experience very disappointing. Slow, no ranger even when calling one on gps system and players playing in t shirt, bathing suit, flip flops and a partner playing barefoot.
A first class facility.
This is a beautiful course that provides a good boost to your confidence due to the spacious fairways. There are enough forced carries, sand traps, and strategically placed trees to provide and adequate challenge.
I have played here four times and every time the course was busy but the pace of play was excellent every time.
The driving range, chipping green and putting green are all easy to access prior to your round and the layout is very country club like.
Another great round.
This course is always in great shape and the staff is always wonderful! I'll keep coming back for sure!
One of our FAVORITE Courses in Colorado!!
The course is beautiful, the Customer Service is unmatched and the weather was perfect!! It's always an awesome experience when we play Green Valley Ranch. The price doesn't allow me to play here as often as I'd like but when I get to I look forward with anticipation to the experience. It's ALWAYS fantastic!
So slow!!!!
I play this course several times a year and every time it diapoints more and more. This time we actually walked off the course due to pace of play. I will not go back and recommend if you are looking at this course find somewhere else to play save yourself the aggravation.
12 handicap review
First time playing course, and it was very windy- played blues on front nine, tips on the back. liked the layout, some challenging holes and the greens (although a tad bumpy at times) rolled pretty true and good speed.
practice facility was really good and i would definitely come back to play again. i think i would like the next round better also because the layout could be a bit tricky, and if i knew my way around the course better, it would have improved my shot selection. tended to play better if i took a club less to be safe to avoid those awkward distances (60-85 yards in)
GVR is Awesome
The practice facilities are top notch, the staff is very friendly, the course is naturally beautiful, and the course conditions are pristine! The greens roll super true, and the fairways, first cut and second cut are clearly defined. A thinking man's course. Challenging from start to finish. Can't wait to play again!
Challenging course
Always a challenge from the back tees. Greens smooth & fairly fast. Good value playing early.
Great Day at GVR
What can I say. GVR is the best course in CO for the money. The course was in top condition. Bring your driver, your going to need it..
Great condition
Great course. Will challenge every area of your game.
winter golf
as good as can be expected for winter golf free range balls help for the money
Great winter golf
Played here in the middle of winter on a nice, sunny (albeit windy) january day with temps in the 60s. The course was in excellent condition for this time of year. The staff was friendly. The carts were nice with GPS included. Pace of play was ok...I still finished in four hours but a gentleman that started a full hour behind me caught up to me by the 13th hole. I would definitely recommend this course, especially for the great deals on winter golf!
Quality winter golf
Green Valley Ranch is in great shape for 3 weeks into December. The greens are rolling well for winter and the fairways and tees are in good shape. My experience was really nice the pace was great and the price made it all the more enjoyable. The course was clear of snow and very playable even though other courses in the area were still closed with snow. I have played this course many times and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quality round of golf during the winter months for a reasonable price.
Great Place to Play
Would recommend this course to anyone as it gets progressively harder from hole 1-18 a great challenge and a great time!
Nice course
The course is well maintained with fast greens. It's a course I enjoy playing. One thing I don't like that I experienced on this round is the effort to speed up play is somewhat insensitive. For instance being asked to pick up the pace of play when we weren't holding up anyone. Also our group was asked to speed up when the main thing slowing us down was the quality of play. Poor play naturally slows down play because of the greater number of shots hit and the need to look for mis-hit balls on more occasions than typical. With such groups increasing speed would typically come down to taking less time to look for balls or picking up after hitting too many shots (whatever that might be) on a hole. I know the need to speed up play is real but the effort to do so can sometimes be unreasonable and decrease the enjoyment of the game.
very nice course/ greens are great
played in 4 hours, nice!
medium difficultly course/ greens are great
Valley serenity
This course offers a great challenge of mastering the moguls and traps as you’re lost in the beautiful valley beneath the Rockies…..you can actually hear yourself question your confidence as you dream up ways to attack this great course.
Great Cousre.18 is a beast.
A championship course that makes you play many different shots, not just grip and rip with driver every tee box. I have yet to finish 18 with the ball I started with.
