1999 Boys Junior America's Cup Team Matches

LARKSPUR, Colo. - Northern California entered the final round of the 1999 Boys Junior America's Cup (JAC) Team Matches, at Perry Park Country Club in Larkspur, Colo., with a seemingly insurmountable eight-stroke lead. Washington started the day one stroke behind the team from British Columbia, and nine strokes off of the lead. Washington came in with one of the days best team performances (221, also shot by Southern California) to finish the tournament at 661, Northern California finished the final round 14 strokes above its even-par performance in the second round to also post a 661 and share the title with Washington. Both teams received Gold Medal honors. Southern California's 221 placed them in a tie with British Columbia at 663, for which both teams shared Silver Medal Honors. Team Mexico fired a 222 on the final day to earn the Bronze Medal at 667. The team from Colorado finished 13th with a total score of 702. Jayme Berkowitz of Northern California and Matt Makinson of British Columbia both shot three-under-par 213 for the tournament to be recognized as top individual performers. A scroll signed by all 64 players was presented to Perry Park Country Club in gratitude for hosting this prestigious event, and its selfless contribution to junior golf.
