Pre-Round
Putting Routine

I have a pre-round putting routine that will help you putt better on the golf course where it counts. I originally developed this drill for one of my students, LPGA star and former Women's Open Champion, Meg Mallon. Rather than dropping three balls on the putting green like so many players do, I have Meg practice with only one ball on the putting green before her round. Most golfers warm up on the putting green with three balls and very rarely putt out all three balls. These players rake up their balls, putt all three of them to the next hole, then repeat the process hole after hole until they are called to the first tee to start their round. On the golf course, a short second putt for par or bogey shakes them up because they haven't ingrained the routine of holing out their putts on the practice green. Meg on the other hand, uses one ball that she holes-out on each practice hole. If her first putt goes three feet past she carefully strokes the second putt into the cup before going to the next practice hole. Should she miss a putt by a couple of inches, she taps it in just like on the golf course.
Through this pre-round putting practice session, you are preparing
yourself for success on the golf course. IT WORKS FOR MEG MALLON
AND IT WILL WORK FOR YOU!
