Rockiesgolf.com Staff Report

The International
August 19-22, 1999
1998 Champion: Vijay Singh
Castle Pines Golf Club, Castle Rock, CO.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. - Some of the best golfers on the PGA tour make a stop at Castle Pines Golf Course for the weeklong International tournament.

The brainchild of Castle Pines founder Jack Vickers, the tournament (Monday through Sunday, Aug. 16 through 22) is unique for its match play (Modified Stableford) format: Players are awarded points for birdies and eagles or better; points are deducted for bogeys or worse. Par is worth nothing.

The scoring system demands assertive play, providing a change for players and plenty of excitement for the gallery. Castle Pines is a 7,559-yard, par-72 tournament course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Tickets: Tickets are still available for the weeklong tournament. A package that includes one ticket for each day of the tournament goes for $150 and includes parking; a family pack for Saturday or Sunday runs $99 for two adults with two kids for free and includes parking and four lunch coupons; kids under age 15 are free with a paying adult.

Call (303) 660-8000 to purchase tickets. Or pick up a free ticket to Tuesday's practice round at any Front Range Safeway store.

Getting There: From 1-25 take the Happy Canyon Road exit (exit 187) and head west. The golf course is located a mile from the highway. Shuttles will run between all parking lots and the golf course Monday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. until the end of play. Parking passes are required in all lots except for the general public parking lot.

A-VIP Parking: includes Sponsors' guests, media and caddies. Take exit 187 to Castle Pines security gate. B-VIP Parking: includes parking for Corporate Tent, Skybox and Fairway Club patrons.
