CWGA TOURNAMENT PLAYERS' POINT SYSTEM
In 1995, the CWGA Board of Directors adopted a tournament point system to identify the top women players in the State. This list is used to determine the CWGA Player of the Year, and to select the Colorado Women's State Team.
The point system was modeled after the Colorado Golf Association's (CGA) Tournament Players' Point System. Selected CWGA Championships, USGA Qualifiers and Championships, the Norwest Colorado Women's Open, and selected club-level events which: 1) have an open entry policy; 2) are individual stroke play format; 3) are more than 18-holes in length; and 4) do not sell "mulligans" to participants are considered eligible point events.
CWGA Player of the Year Award
The CWGA Board of Directors will review the point standings at the end of each golf season and select a CWGA Player of the Year. Total points earned will carry the most weight, however, other factors such as performance at non-point events of regional or national significance will be considered. The CWGA reserves the right to deduct points if a player does not display true sportsmanship, courtesy, discipline, upstanding character, and a good attitude towards the game, other players, and tournament officials. Points are awarded for GROSS finish in Championship Flight only. Player of the Year points are earned and accumulated for the current season only, and are not carried over to the next season.
