Men's Golf: Rams finish tied for 5th at Pepperdine STRATA Invitational
Somis, Calif. - (Oct. 11, 1999) The Colorado State mens
golf team finished in tie for 5th place at the inaugural Pepperdine
STRATA Invitational with a final-round team score of 293 to finish
with a tournament score of 891.
The Rams finihsed seven strokes behind tournament champion Texas A&M (884). Oregon State and UC-Santa Barbara (887), Pepperdine (890), and Oregon and the Rams round out the top-5. The top-10 finish for the Rams was the fourth-consecutive, having placed in the top-10 in each of their first four tounraments. Individually, junior Robby Stephenson and sophomore Geoff Nuwash finished in a tie for 11th place, eight strokes behind Scott Piercy of San Diego St. Stephenson and Nuwash each fired final round 73s to finish with a 6-over-par 222.
Junior Nigel Spence finished 21st with a 225, junior Darrin Overson
came in 27th with a 226 and freshman James Kurtenbach rounds out
the Rams finishers in 32nd place with a 228.
