Thanksgiving Point Golf Club
About
At more than 200 acres, the Golf Course at Thanksgiving Park is one of the largest and lengthiest courses in the state. Since its opening, the golf course has received many accolades from publications like Golf Digest, Links Magazine and TravelGolf.com, calling it the best public golf club in Utah and one of 15 "hidden gems" in the country. The golf course was built on mountainous terrain with a desert landscape and the Jordan River meandering through it. To add even more to the scenery, there are also flower gardens and pine trees sprinkled throughout the course. There are many elevation changes and a good amount of undulation on Thanksgiving Park's greens. The mounded fairways are lined with trees. Water hazards come into play on some holes and there are also over 100 bunkers present

Wouldn’t play again in early spring again
I understand it’s only March but greens were slow and tee boxes weren’t even marked. We had to estimate which tee box was which caused some confusion. For those who hate cart path only, cart path only rule applied today even though the course wasn’t wet.
In my opinion the course didn’t look like it was ready to be opened up for the season. I’m sure the course will be in great shape in a couple months but until then I won’t be back.
Glad I played.
I was told about this course by a co-worker who said I should play it and that I would like this course.
So glad I played it. It is challenging and beautiful. The greens were quick and true. I recommend this course with high grades.
Best Condition in years
Just played Thanksgiving point today, and the condition wasn’t really good, especially the purity and speed of the greens. I also like the few changes made to the course, it feels more open now, at least visually. I’m a member at a private club, but I’m considering getting a membership at TP to get tested on another level. The wind is the only thing that really bothers me about playing there, so dealing with it everyday might be tough...but the wind cant be controlled. What Troon can control, they’ve done a grest job, since taking over from Vanguard.
Great Course - Long Course - Pretty Views
Very fun and challenging course in good condition.
Lots of bunkers in strategic locations both in the fairway as well as near the greens. The are a few holes which requires a forced carries, and water comes into play on several holes. The rough was very lush, thick and was on long side. Due to that, hitting fairways was at a premium.
The bunkers need some help and attention. MANY of the bunkers had zero to little sand in them. Also, there were many ares were a little on the soggy side
The greens rolled true and were very quick with lots of humps, ridges and undulations which added to the challenge of the course. The worst part of the greens was there there are tons of non-repaired ball marks all over the greens. I fixed at least three or four ball marks on every green and it did not make a difference at all due to so many ball marks all over the greens.
Having said that, I would definitely play again due to the course being a great layout, many beautiful views, lots of elevation changes and lots of wind which adds to the challenge.
Thanks Giving Point
The course was in great condition and should speak to all handicaps. Know your game and look at the score card, the whites play 6500 yards if I remember correct and there are 3 tee boxes behind that. The blacks play 7700 yards and the group in front of us was playing the tips. They were not this skilled and made for a 5 and 1/2 hour round. No restaurant was disappointing.
Special Day!
One of the best golfing days ever! Early morning and one of the first out. Course was in great condition. Pace of play was perfect- no waiting. Some of the holes 7 & 17 we’re not clearly marked and took some driving around to figure them out. I’ll be back!
Great course. Needs a Marshall to move along slow groups
The course itself is a VERY good course and I love to play at Thanksgiving Point.
However, when I checked in the person in the pro shop did not acknowledge me. He was putting away chips at a snack bar and continued on until he was done. I sat in the pro shop for aprox six mins. waiting for him to finish what he was doing before he said one word to me. He was not in a good mood at all and seemed not to happy to have to work today.
The course itself is fun, challenging and very pretty. For just starting out spring conditions, the course is in really good condition.
Lots of bunkers (all in good condition)
A few forced carries
Lots of water and pretty river views
Lots of fun elevation changes
The rough was very thick and challenging
Greens were quite slow and shaggy
Greens were in good condition as far as thick
grass with not a lot of ball marks
The biggest problem of the day was the sloooow play. At one point on hole #12, there were 4 groups of players on the hole. One group on the green, one group in the fairway and two groups waiting at the tee box to hit. I left the tee box to go past a few groups to get to an open hole. There was a group of four golfers who had a bunch of people backed up behind them and groups waiting. Once I got past the group of four very slow golfers, there were three empty holes ahead. There should have been a marshall out today to speed along the group of four golfers who were extremely slow and holding up at least 6 or seven groups behind them.'
If you want food and drinks take your own because the snack bar was closed and you could not get a drink nor get any ice.
Great Course and challenging layout
For a winter day (November 1st) the course was in great condition. There were a few greens that had a lot of bare spots (#1, #6). The greens were pretty smooth (lots of non repaired ball marks) and nice. I would love to play the course again in the summer when all the grass is thick and nice and the weather is warmer.
The worst part of the day was the pace of play. At one time on hole #5, I was on the tee box and there were two groups in the fairway and a group behind me. I saw the marshal several times though out the day but never once day the pace of play improve. It took 5.5 hrs. to play on a Wednesday (should have been 4.5 hrs at the MOST).
Overall Fun, Challenging Track!
Fun, challenging track in really good condition. Many bunkers in strategic locations, a few forced carries, and water comes into play on several holes. The rough tended to be on the long side too which made hitting fairways more important. Only complaints I had, which are minor, were the course tended to be a little on the soggy side, and the greens way too slow for my liking. But would definitely play again.
Awesome Course in Great Condition - Go Play
The golf course is awesome, but the people in the pro shop are even better. I did not get the name of the person in the pro shop, but he was fantastic (very helpful, friendly, accommodating, etc.)
I have played this course one time before and I really enjoyed the course, but this time I played the course was awesome. The greens were fast and smooth (very few ball marks not repaired). The fairways and rough were thick and lush. If you are in the rough, be ready to have to hack it out because the rough is very thick and you will not get your normal distance (as it should be, you are in the rough and not in the fairway).
I would highly recommend the course because it is in great condition and the people in the pro shop are fantastic.
Beautiful course
Pros:
Championship course
Multiple tees
Great scenery
Friendly staff
Cons:
Slooow play, 6 hour round
Cart path only on several holes
Wet/muddy from overwatering
Bunkers were packed solid
Fun course
Always fun to play. Great course and in great shape.
