very scenic rocky formations,wonderful views
Looks alone is worth the drive to Rifle. The friendly staff were happy and made us welcome. Back nine is where I found the stunning views and more challenging holes. I recommend the course for anyone wanting to play in the state of Colorado.
most interesting back 9 ever
Don't know how they built the back 9 into the existing landscape. Nice front 9 but nothing special. The back 9 is much harder than the front, much more interesting and just a pleasure to play. I still don't know how they made greens, fairways (generally level), and tee boxes out of the existing terrain. There is a par 3 on the back 9, less than 150 yards that has an elevation change of maybe 100 feet. In my view the signature hole is the 16th. Long par 4 with an elevation change that might be over 400 feet. If you know where to aim and are accurate enough, you could drive the green without being a long hitter. Would/will play this course again.
Hidden gem
Friendly staff, good grill in a rocky mountain setting with great course conditions. The back nine is to die for! Going back again even though a 90 minute drive from Aspen.
Play it twice.
Nice course. Would play some shots different the second time. Not knowing the course cost a few shots here and there. Overall tough layout, greens very tricky and fast. Some tough pin placements..
very scenic back nine. Holes 13,14 might be the toughest back to back holes I have played. TIGHT to say the least. I would play it again.
beautiful course
Front nine pretty open but challenging, back nine very hilly with outstanding views. One of my favorite courses to play.
Fun course
Front nine and back nine are like playing two different courses. Awesome views and fast greens. Course is in great condition. Staff were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely play here again.
Good course
Course very nice have played before. Will play Again
Rifle Creek
It was very hot, but the course was in great shape. Staff was very friendly and helpful
Rifle creek
Front nine is just fine and back nine is sooo cool and fun and beautiful and challenging and it makes the front nine a treat for warming up and getting ready for the back - perfect! Staff is the best ANYWHERE! Everybody so so nice !!
Fun, Early Season Round
Well, the Golf Now deal of the day screamed $15 a round, which includes cart (roughly $18 and change with tax).
So, needing to get a round in and get out of Vail Valley to a warmer, lower climate in spring, I decided to jump on the deal.
I grabbed a buddy and we drove the 1.5 hours to the little town of Rifle. Straight shot down I-40.
Arriving at the course a few miles north of town approacing Rifle Gap, the course immediately drew some comparisons to a similar course up the road a ways: Lakota Canyon.
Both courses have 9 holes on the "flats" and 9 holes snaking their way back into the canyons of the nearby bald rock and cedar.
The front 9 of Rifle was as about as boring and municipal golf course as you could get. Very little fairway grass or imagination with the layout. However, once we crossed the road to the Back 9, things got much more interesting. The Back 9 was in much better shape, prettier and much more fun and challenging.
The staff was outstandingly friendly and helfpul and we waited no time from car to tee or vice versa. Easy Peasy.
We both realized that the season was early and the course would become even better as the warm weather progressed, so we vowed to come back for another round, now that we know where to hit it.
Great place!
Friendly atmosphere and great course. The pro is a great guy and runs things very well! Will return again and again.
One of the most impressive back 9's anywhere.
Rifle Creek
Super friendly staff. One of the best golf courses I have ate at, great food. Fun, but challenging course to play especially the back 9. The greens were a little rough I thought This time, but overall, course is in good shape.
We all like the course
We ail liked the course.we we'll be back.the lay out was nice.the staff were very nice.keep up the good work.
The course was great
I play the course a few years back and it's still in good shape.my friends well be back thank you all for a good time .keep up good job.
Great value for the money
Needs more on course beverage services. Been there multiple times and only seen beer cart two or three times. Front nine has fast, slanted greens. Overall I love this course, golf has become affordable and I can finally work on my game.
Thanks golf now!
Great course and beautiful location in the low rocky hill, back side is to die for.
Great course and even better restraint. The guacobacon burger was more than could eat. The course is in good shape and greens while fast were well taken care of.
