Pace of Play
We were a twosome playing 18 holes. We had 3 singles play through on front nine. So we felt pressured to play quickly for half the round. Pace was way too quick as a result.
No idea?
Great layout in a beautiful place. But the bunkers are unplayable and they don't water the fairways??? Not sure what is going on? Could be a great course. Fix bunkers, turn on sprinklers and redesign #12. Way over priced for the condition.
Golf with a View
Compared to a few years ago, this place is making a comeback in the conditioning department. It isn't perfect, but the fairways now might be guilty of having too thick of grass. Considering the sparse grass of yesteryear, this is all right.
Off the course, there are all the amenities you could want. A driving range and putting green are on the other side of the road. The clubhouse has a restaurant. There is also a beverage cart making rounds.
The course itself is a good one. There is a good mix of short holes and long. The par 3s vary in club length and direction. All of the par 5s are probably getable for the long hitter. The 12th is the best with a downhill third or second that really comes off a bluff. Stay left if going for it in two. There are a couple of drivable par 4s most notably the 13th with an elevated green-not really sure if going for it in 1 is the wise choice, but can be done by bigger hitters.
The best parts of this place are the views. You get the Sneffels range and Cimmaron range on many holes. If you like eye candy, this is up there.
The other great part of this is the value. You can walk at twilight for $29 or cart it for $49. This is quite the deal and goes on all summer. If you are staying in Ouray, this is the best course in the area. If in Telluride, it is just short of an hour to get to, but twilight is less than half the Telluride Resort and walking is 1/4. For the past 7 years, I have played here on my way in and out of Telluride. Can't see that changing any time soon with the rates they have.
Coming Back
I know that there has been some issues with course condition over the last few years. We played as a foursome and had a very nice time. The course was hard, as if it might not have been getting a lot of water, but was in good condition and played very well. We enjoyed it and would go back again.
Nice course
I enjoyed the round. Fairways are in good shape; some greens are tricky. Beautiful area!
Fabulous!
Fabulous day on this course. Incredible deal. Relaxing afternoon of golf with panoramic views of the San Juan Mountains!
Sweet...
The greens were perfect, and I do mean PERFECT! The rest of the course needed some attention, but considering the water issues Divide has suffered in recent years, and the wildlife living there the course was in VERY good condition. If they had mowed the fairways it would have received an excellent rating.
Keep at it you "guys"
Tranquility
The views trump everything at The Divide Ranch golf club !! The coarse was in great shape and the over all challenges of this mountain coarse are great for a intermediate to novice golfer !!
Course condition
The course underwent a severe drought in 2012. The grass fairways were all but gone in early 2013. The course is back and althought there was some spacing issues between newly seed grass, the course should be great condition by late summer.
Much Improved
I played Divide Ranch on June 20, 2014 and discovered the conditions were 180 degrees better than the last time I played.
The greens were beautiful and looked like plush, green wall to wall carpeting. The fairways were also excellent.
The water access that Divide Ranch now has along with a new type of perennial rye grass has done wonders for the fairways, tee boxes and rough. The rough was a little long and made it difficult at times to find my ball, but the fairways are generally wide enough that you should not spend too much time in the rough.
Excellent work by the maintenance staff.
