Great First Visit
Our first time playing this course and it was a great experience. The course conditions were immaculate; very nicely manicured and very green. The links style course featured wide fairways for tee shots, narrowing down around greens area. Rough areas were faiir as far as grass length, with native grass areas border the roughs. A few relatively small bunkers guarded the greens, which were quite smooth with subtle contours. Staff was great. We will return here for sure.
Great Value and challenging course
This is a well designed course that offers many challenges to every golfer. The front has multiple accessible holes for low scores and the back requires accuracy on tee shots to avoid the numerous water hazards. Very enjoyable course with a friendly staff
Good, challenging course, a fun day
This was yet another course on my list to play in NOCO. The VIP Passbook Northern book made for a deal that was too enticing to pass on.
The staff was very friendly. We were lucky to be paired with Bob, a very nice local. They had just aerated the greens within the last 7-10 days, which made them trickier, but on the plus side, they were very receptive. The layout is more forgiving on the front 9 with room to find your ball with a 2 way miss, though pay attention, the terrain can hide your ball left on #3 off the tee.
The back 9 can penalize you if you bail right with the road on the left for the 1st 5 holes. A smarter golfer may opt for non-driver on quite a few holes, especially if the tees are moved up. Poor fish in the drying up ponds!
The red tees seemed reasonable for ladies, though #14 may require some shot shape control or good course management.
We look forward to a rematch.
The restaurant smelled great, but a tip to try The Tavern at St. Michael's proved too tempting for us. Good tip.
Overall, this course is a good, popular place to play where smart golf may be the ticket.
This course has challenges.
I like this course because each fairway has different challenges. The fairways aren't just straight to the green. Its a nice view of the mountains while sitting on the patio having a beverage after a round.
This is a great course but a slicers nightmare. Keep in in the fairway. The rough is nasty. The greens tend to be fast and true. The north side (1-9) plays much easier and is more forgiving than the south. 18 is a great finishing hole. Good staff -- good food -- good prices.
