Greens were in pretty good shape, but some fairways had a lot of winter damage.
Could use some sand.
Fort Morgan Gem
Some fun holes but the greens were tournament ready. This is how putting should be.
Good course
Nice course. Can't beat it for the price. Friendly staff. Enjoyed my round.
Early season
A little early in the year for the course to be in it's best condition but we enjoyed the course and the weather.. I would and have recommended the course to others.
Conditions Improving
Conditions are improving as Spring arrives. Two greens which were under repair are now open; all greens are in good condition. Some fairways are a bit mottled in coloration, guessing due to lack of water this season.. Frost delayed play on 4/15, but we all managed to get out and enjoy the day.
Always one of my favorite courses
Staff is always fantastic due to a great combination of professionalism and a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. Additionally, a great challenging but non-intimidating layout, good course conditions, and the small town local flavor make each visit something to look forward to. Affordable. Rarely crowded. I love it.
For winter conditions it was very fun and great shape. Would love to play it in the summer months. Love the layout!
Winter getaway from Denver metro
Course is often open when denver metro courses are not. Very friendly staff!
Love this Course!
Great people, good yardage on the course, and proximity to Denver make this a great option for golfing in beautiful, rural Colorado when you are looking for a change of pace. The par 5, 14th will give you a run for your money! The people here are friendly and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend a day out at Quail Dunes!
Good day to play when Denver's courses are snowed in!
We kind of got an itch to play some golf. Canon City was our last outing to play when all the nearby courses were too white. Amazingly, there was basically no snow in Ft. Morgan. The check-in was seamless. The staff was friendly. The temps were good enough to play with layers, hat, double gloves. The conditions on the course were pretty good, though #7 & #16 had temporary greens, and #8 had half the green covered. Still, can you complain about January golfing outside in Colorado? There were others out there. The rough provided some challenges. #9's tee box is blind to where you need to aim, so figure it out before you go to that one...or you may be yelling out "where do I aim?" to your spouse. Oh yeah, 3rd time there...I don't think there's a single sand bunker. The holes are fairly straight, reminiscent of a different era. The layout will make some of these shorter holes play longer and the downhillers play shorter. Sadly, Elaine's Greek restaurant is closed for good, bummer! Good times still. Thanks!
