A fun, short, exec 9

This is a fun, higher altitude (7550') experience that varies dramatically based on wind and season. In the summer session, the course's location keeps a good volume of golfers on the course. PM tee times open up, though, and a late afternoon round can be very pretty. In the off peak season, the course can be much less busy. The course closes during the elk rut, as it becomes difficult to navigate the hundreds of animals that gather here. Winter golf can be a fun outing for a bargain price if the snows melt the grass or can give you the opportunity to practice your snow shot. Coyotes, Canada geese, elk, deer, bald eagles, and the occasional fox may visit here.

The course itself is fairly straightforward, though #6 over the Big Thompson River is a good hole that gets really challenging in the Estes winds. Club choice here can vary by 3 clubs. A few extra balls for this hole might be wise, though #7, 8, & 9 can also have water hazards. The greens will not be fast, as the environment wouldn't allow survival of tightly mown grasses. Elk footprints can affect your putting. The longest hole is 389y, and there is a 316y par 4.

The driving range is at the other Estes Park course off Colorado 7 maybe 10 minutes away.

The staff always seems very friendly. It's probably partly due to the beautiful environment here. The views of the continental divide make for smiles for your group. Enjoy.
