Flatirons Golf Course is a well known public course that has a longstanding reputation within the Boulder community. Originally opened in 1933 as the Boulder Municipal Sports Center, the course has since changed both its name and location. The traditional layout is ideal for beginners to learn how to hit long, straight drives but it also offers a challenging round for more experienced players with a few subtle doglegs and water hazards coming into play frequently throughout. Mature trees frame most of the holes, complementing the stunning mountain views that characterize the course. Despite its mountainous backdrop, the course itself is mostly flat though there are a few subtle, but tricky contours. In addition to the golf course, Flatirons is also equipped with a complete practice facility that includes a driving range, multiple chipping greens, and a large putting green.
