AURORA, CO (JUNE 5, 2001) - The City of Aurora Golf Division is
pleased to announce that Jim Long has been selected for the head
golf professional position at Aurora Hills Golf Course and Dan O'Shaughnessey
will be the new head golf professional at Fitzsimons Golf Course.
Both will begin their new jobs on June 4, 2001.
Jim Long, a PGA professional for sixteen years, has accepted the position of head golf professional at Aurora Hills Golf Course. Long has been the head golf professional at Fitzsimons Golf Course since 1992 and with the City of Aurora Golf Division since 1998. He had previously been an assistant golf pro at various metro courses including South Suburban, Inverness, Riverdale, and Lowry Golf Courses. He was elected to PGA membership in 1985. Long has a bachelor's degree in education from The University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colorado. He believes that it is very important to extend customer service and image to the public so that each individual who plays golf at an Aurora golf course walks away with a positive and unique experience. Long, 49, is married and resides in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Dan O'Shaughnessey moves to the Fitzsimons Head Professional position having most recently been the first assistant golf professional at Aurora's Meadow Hills Golf Course. O'Shaughnessey has been a member of the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) since 1997, and has worked in the golf business for more than nine years. Having attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, and Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado, O'Shaughnessey also was graduated from the San Diego Golf Academy with an associate degree of golf complex operations. Currently O'Shaughnessey is continuing his education at Metro State University to attain a degree in sport industry operation and a minor in management. Having worked at Las Vegas Golf Club in Nevada as well as Springhill and Meadow Hills in Aurora, Colorado, as an assistant golf professional, he brings a wealth of experience and customer service to Fitzsimons. He would like to help golfers realize what a great opportunity Fitzsimons is with its historic flavor, great value and easy access. O'Shaughnessey, 31, is single and resides in Aurora, Colorado. "Jim and Dan have both played important roles in Aurora Golf and we are very excited about this new transition for Fitzsimons and Aurora Hills Golf Courses," says Doug McNeil, Aurora's golf business manager. "We know that the customers of both golf courses will enjoy working with them."
