Colorado Area Programs Team Up To Introduce Girls to the Sport
of Golf
BOULDER, Colo. (MAY 31, 2001) - University of Colorado head women's golf coach Anne Kelly will be one of several area head women's and girl's golf coaches and former LPGA players to offer free golf instruction at two instructional clinics for girls ages 8-17 years-of-age at local Get A Girl Golfing Clinics in June. Sponsored by Golf For Women magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association, the purpose of both clinics is to introduce young girls to the game of golf, therefore developing junior association, high school and collegiate players.
The first clinic will be held Saturday, June 11 from 12-3:00 p.m. at the Ute Creek Golf Course in Longmont. The second, Monday, June 18, will be held at the Valley Country Club (Aurora) from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in conjunction with the Colorado Women's Open. Denver head coach Sammie Chergo and Colorado State head coach Megan Menzel will also provide instruction in Denver. "Both clinics are used as an introduction," said Kelly. "We need to provide as many opportunities as possible to introduce young girls to the game."
